Herbert A. Koenig, 82, of 321 Southeast 24th St., Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 19, 1922, son of Herman A. and Hulda Klemm Koenig, he was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He had resided on Montgomery Avenue Extension until moving to Florida three years ago.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Koenig was an inspector at GE for 43 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the GE Pensioners' and Quarter Century clubs.
His wife, the former Evelyn Lawrence, whom he married Jan. 9, 1948, died Jan. 25, 1979.
He leaves three sons, Karl Koenig of Northbrook, Ill., Christopher Koenig of Cape Coral, Fla., and Timothy Koenig of the state of Florida; five daughters, Dianne McKinney, Hulda O'Neil, Sally Partridge, Kathleen Bushey and Mary Jo Saviski, all of Pittsfield; a brother, Edward Koenig of Portsmouth, N.H.; two sisters, Margaret Ramsey and Ruth Jones, both of Pittsfield, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Herbert A. Koenig died in Florida on Saturday, April 17, 2004. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow, April 21, at 11 at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Peter Boehringer, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice Cape Coral, Fla., in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME.
He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Koenig of Pittsfield.
