Joyce A. Stolfo, 58, of 27 Abbott St. died Sunday at home after a long illness.
Born in Akron, Ohio, on Nov. 6, 1945, daughter of Fred Carpenter and Marie Gardner Carpenter Boykin, she was educated in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and was a 1963 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Kent State University in 1967 and did graduate work at Ohio University. She had resided Lenox until moving to Pittsfield in 1991.
Mrs. Stolfo was a professor of computer information systems at Berkshire Community College for 20 years, retiring in 2002. Pre-viously, she was a computer lab instructor at Ohio University at Chillicothe and taught a foreign language in Upper Arlington, Ohio, for five years.
She enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing.
She had participated in the Relay for Life for four years as a member of BCC's Hopeful Travelers team.
She leaves a daughter, Jennene M. Evans of Urbana, Md., a sister, Carol Abdenauer of Akron, and a brother, Fred Carpenter Boykin of the state of Florida.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Joyce A. Stolfo, 58, of Pittsfield, who died April 11, 2004, will be conducted Saturday, April 17, at 11 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Mary Schreiber, senior missioner of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield.
Burial will take place at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio. There will be no calling hours. Joyce also leaves her "grand dog," Sebastian. She was predeceased by a brother, Don Carpenter, late of California.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
