Justine E. Callaghan, 77, of 41 Livingston Ave. died Saturday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on June 10, 1926, daughter of William H. and Doris Brown Cooney, she was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She also graduated from Rutgers University in 1947.
A homemaker, Mrs. Callaghan taught elementary school for a while, and at one time worked for the Western Massachusetts Tuberculosis Association.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church.
She and her husband, John Edmund Callaghan, would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary April 15.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, William Callaghan of Plainville, Patrick Callaghan of South Portland, Maine, and Sean Callaghan of Pittsfield; a daughter, Jenny Conti of Amherst, N.H., and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Justine E. Callaghan, who died in Pittsfield on April 10, 2004, will be held Thursday, April 15, at 11:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Calling hours will be tomorrow, April 14, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Athenaeum or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
Beloved grandmother to Michael, Tyler, Alena, Adam, Rory, Evan and Liam. She also leaves her daughters-in-law, Patricia, Karen and Teri, and son-in-law, Paul, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved cat, Katrina.
