Elizabeth M. O'Connor, 71, of 40 New York Ave. died Wednesday at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 18, 1932, daughter of Vincent and Angie Kepp Lavelle, she graduated in 1949 from St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. O'Connor was employed in the catalog department of the former Sears department store for more than 22 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she worked in the Pittsfield tax collector's office for 10 years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and enjoyed reading.
She and her husband, John O'Connor, would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary May 13.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Deborah Ann O'Connor of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Mass for Elizabeth M. O'Connor, who died April 7, 2004, will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 in St. Mary the Morning Star Church by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
She also is survived by her brother-in-law, Archibald Wilson of Williamstown, and nephews David Wilson of Williamstown and Bruce Wilson of Brookline, N.H. She also leaves a dear friend, Priscilla Pepin of Orange, Conn., and her faithful dog Bonnet.
