Daniel G. Raftery Sr

Daniel G. Raftery Sr., 47, of 1167 North St. died yesterday morning at home after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 21, 1956, son of Frederick and Dorothea Brancazzu Raftery of Lenox, he was a 1974 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School.

He had resided in Pittsfield for 17 years.

He served as a military police officer in the Army for seven years.

He and his wife, the former Rose A. Barber, were foster parents for two years, until stopping in January because of poor health.

Mr. Raftery was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.

He enjoyed working on computers and playing golf.

Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, whom he married Sept. 29, 1990; two sons, Daniel G. Raftery Jr. and Conor R. Raftery, both at home; a daughter, Erin L. Raftery at home; three brothers, Sean K. Raftery of Lee, Brian D. Raftery of Lenox and Patrick M. Raftery of Pittsfield, and a sister, Brenda M. Hall of Lenox.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Daniel G. Raftery Sr., who died in Pittsfield on Wednesday, April 7, 2004, will be Monday, April 12, at 10:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial concelebrated at 11 in St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor, and the Rev. Daniel Brunton, chaplain at Providence Health Care Center.

Burial will follow in Church on the Hill Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 11, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Raftery Children's College Fund in care of Rose Raftery, 1167 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
