John F. Sheerin Jr., 59, of 89 Greylock Terrace died Sunday at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.
Born in Pittsfield on June 3, 1944, son of John F. Sheerin Sr. and Mary Coppolino Sheerin, he was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Sheerin had been a dispatcher for the city of Pittsfield for 28 years at the time of his death. Previously, he had worked as a machinist at the former Berkshire Machine and for Pittsfield Neon Signs.
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.
He was a National Rifle Association-certified pistol instructor and was on the Pittsfield Police pistol team.
His ham radio call sign was WA1WDL, and he also enjoyed photography, fishing and motorcycle riding.
He and his wife, the former Hildegard Schroder, were married June 5, 1970.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Heidi E. Jones of Pittsfield; three sons, Harold J. "Buddy" Sheerin, Kurt A. Sheerin and John F. Sheerin III, all of Pittsfield; four sisters, Rosemary Vinette and Mary Ellen Rando, both of Pittsfield, Maureen Cahill of Cheshire, Judy Keltz of Gates, N.Y.; a brother, James Sheerin of Ocala, Fla., and nine grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for John F. Sheerin, 59, who died Sunday, April 4, 2004, will be held tomorrow, April 7, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, April 6, from 3 to 5 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Charles' CCD or food pantry in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
