John J. Quinn Sr

John J. Quinn Sr., 77, of 71 Lexington Parkway died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 8, 1926, son of Dr. John R. and Sara Collins Quinn, he graduated from St. Joseph's High School and attended St. Bonaventure College.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed by GE in the power transformer department for 20 years. He also worked at The Berkshire Eagle and was a former Pittsfield tax collector.
Mr. Quinn was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
He was a life member of the Berkshire Museum and a member of the Monday Morning Club.
He was a longtime strength and conditioning coach of the St. Joseph's High School football team, and coached at various times from the 1950s to the 1990s.
He was a longtime member of the American Football Association and a former member of the Berkshire County Football Officials. He enjoyed animals and the outdoors.
He leaves his wife, the former Lillian Wilson; four daughters, Kathleen Quinn and Colleen Quinn, both of Pittsfield, Tammy Lahart of Lenox and Sheila Niedeck of Tumba, Sweden; two sons, John "Jack" Quinn Jr. and Michael Quinn, both of Pittsfield, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His brother, Kevin Quinn, died 15 hours later, on Wednesday.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for John J. Quinn, 77, who died March 30, 2004, will be Monday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's High School Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mr. Quinn will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren, Daniel Kearns, Timothy Kearns, Gisela Kearns, Allison Kearns, Caitlin Quinn, Dempsey Quinn, Brodie Quinn, Adam Twiss, John Twiss, Bom Bee Lahart, Linden Niedeck, and great-grandchildren Paige Kearns and Quinn Kearns; his daughter-in-law, Catherine Quinn, and two sons-in-law, Robert Lahart and Tod Niedeck.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Quinn, and a brother, Joseph Quinn. His other brother, Kevin Quinn, with whom he resided, died March 31, 2004 (15 hours later).
