Josephine Theresa Iwanowicz, 86, of 551 Summit Road died yesterday morning at home.
Born in Adams on June 7, 1917, daughter of Joseph and Helen Nida Gwozdz, she was a graduate of the former Adams High School.
She moved to Richmond in 1956.
A homemaker, Mrs. Iwanowicz had been employed at GE in Pittsfield before her marriage and assisted in the operation of the family farm.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in West Stockbridge.
Her husband, Walter A. Iwanowicz, whom she married Sept. 13, 1943, in California, died Jan. 11, 1982.
She leaves two sons, Stanley W. Iwanowicz of Richmond and John J. Iwanowicz of Shelburne; six daughters, Joanne F. Stevens of Stephentown, N.Y., Anne M. Cerveira and Elizabeth L. Gniadek, both of Richmond, Theresa J. Atteridge of Amherst, Cynthia S Iwanowicz of Pittsfield and Mary L. Whitaker of Lanesboro, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Josephine T. Iwanowicz, who died March 29, 2004, will be Friday at 10 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Patrick's Church, West Stockbridge, by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church in Pittsfield.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anita Chapman Scholarship Fund or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Iwanowicz is lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law, Janet Iwanowicz, and five sons-in-law, George Stevens, George Cerveira, Timothy Atteridge, Robert Gniadek and Donald Whitaker. She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
