William F. "Perch" Kennedy, 73, of Cheshire Road died Saturday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on June 25, 1930, son of Robert and Katherine Maloney Kennedy, he was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a native of Pittsfield.
Mr. Kennedy served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was employed as a test man in the power transformer department at GE, retiring in 1988 after 38 years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 103 and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
Mr. Kennedy was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed horse racing, especially at Saratoga Raceway.
He leaves a son, Kevin F. Kennedy of Old Chatham, N.Y.; four daughters, Karen A. Kennedy, Barbara J. Kennedy and Lisa E. Kennedy, all of Pittsfield, and Lynn M. Bates of East Hartford, Conn.; four brothers, James Kennedy and Lawrence Kennedy, both of Pittsfield, Edward Kennedy of Lenox and John Kennedy of Lincoln, and three grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, Jacqueline Gingras Kennedy.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for William F. "Perch" Kennedy, who died March 27, 2004, will be celebrated tomorrow, March 30, at 10 at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Mr. Kennedy leaves his beloved grandchildren, Stephen and Tommy Bates and Peyton Doyle, and his son-in-law, Stephen Bates. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Kennedy.
If friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, which is in charge of arrangements.
