Eleanor A. LaRochelle

Eleanor A. LaRochelle, 75, of 29 Richmond Ave. died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she was admitted in December 2003.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 31, 1929, daughter of Sofio Matarazzo and Gelsomina Massimiano Matarazzo Calicchia, she graduated from Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. LaRochelle was employed by the former Grand Union supermarket for several years, and then by Maxi Drugs for 10 years, retiring in 1992. She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.
She enjoyed going to the beach and cooking, and was a Red Sox fan.
Her husband, Raymond W. LaRochelle, whom she married June 19, 1948, in Mount Carmel Church, died May 7, 2000.
She leaves five sons, Peter M. LaRochelle, Raymond D. LaRochelle and Michael N. LaRochelle, all of Pittsfield, David R. LaRochelle of Chelmsford and John V. LaRochelle of Windsor; a sister, Lucia Socha of Adams, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Thomas LaRochelle, died in 1957.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Eleanor A. LaRochelle, who died March 22, 2004, will be Thursday, March 25, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 in St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, March 24, from 4 to 7. Additional survivors include a sister-in-law, Chris Boos of Pittsfield.
She also was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Robinson and Antoinette Valente, and two brothers, Vincent J. Matarazzo and John V. Matarazzo.
