Dorothy E. Leab

Dorothy E. Leab, 84, of 59 Carson Ave. died yesterday at Craneville Place.

Born in Dalton on Jan. 4, 1920, daughter of Charles D. and Carrie J. Rarick Zink, she was a 1937 graduate of the former Dalton High School.

Mrs. Leab was employed in the stationery sample department of Crane & Co. from 1977 to 1998. Prior to that, she was a clerk at the former Silvernails Drug Store and the former Kings department store.

She was a member of Dalton Congregational Church, and enjoyed reading.

Her husband, Philip J. Leab, whom she married Oct. 3, 1938, died Oct. 1, 1970.

She leaves three sons, Philip D. Leab of Cheshire, Richard C. Leab of Pittsfield and Jon H. Leab of Dalton; two daughters, Sandra J. Moore of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Judith A. MacLeod of Dalton; two sisters, Ruth R. Hutchinson of Cheshire and Norma J. Murphy of Pittsfield; two brothers, Norman D. Zink and Robert W. Zink, both of Dalton; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Dorothy E. Leab, who died March 16, 2004, will be conducted Friday at 11 at Dalton Congregational Church by the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor.

Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Mrs. Leab was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Zink, and a sister, Marjorie Horton.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dalton Public Library or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
