Mary T. Melle

Mary T. Melle, 84, of Maple Street, a native of Lenox, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center, where she had been a patient for a week.
Born in Lenox on Aug. 26, 1919, daughter of Giuseppe and Angelina Gagliardi Romeo, she attended Lenox schools and graduated from the former Lenox High School in 1939.
Mrs. Melle was a homemaker and had also worked for many years as a housekeeper for the Duffin family of Lenox. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Ann's Church.
She was also an active member of the Lenox Senior Citizens Club and the Lenox Council on Aging. She enjoyed playing bingo.
She and her husband, Albert L. Melle Sr., were married in St. Ann's Church on Nov. 26, 1942.
Besides her husband of Lenox, she leaves a son, Albert L. Melle Jr. of New Lebanon, N.Y.; one daughter, Theresa Terry Michney of Austerlitz, N.Y.; one sister, Virginia DeBlois of Lenox, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary T. Melle will be Monday at 9:45 from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Ann's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Romeo Family Technology Center at the Lenox Library in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
Mrs. Melle is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine Sotek of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and James Terry of Lenox; her sisters-in-law, Bessie and Pierina Romeo; her daughter-in-law, Julianne Melle; her son-in-law, Gerard Michney, and her grandchildren's spouses, Jeffrey Sotek and Holly Terry, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends she held dear.
She was predeceased by a sister, Marie Rota, and six brothers, Frank, Thomas, Angelo, Bill, Peter and Victor Romeo.
