Edna M. Blanchard

Edna M. Blanchard, 99, of North Falmouth and formerly of Pittsfield, died Thursday at Harborside Healthcare of Falmouth.
She was the sister of Lillian Anderson of Pittsfield.
Born in Ellington, Conn., on March 23, 1904, daughter of George Everett and Bertha Doane Perkins, and a descendant of Myles Standish, she attended school in Everett first, then in Pittsfield.
During World War II, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Falmouth, a member of the church choir and the Women's Union. She was also a member of the Falmouth Women's Club, Falmouth Women's Club Choir and the North Falmouth Village Association, and she volunteered at the Falmouth Hospital.
While in Pittsfield, she learned to play the piano, and music was a lifelong love.
Her husband of 54 years, Norman H. Blanchard, died in 1977. The couple had lived in Winter Haven, Fla.; Stamford, Conn.; Coshocton, Ohio, and Pittsfield before retiring to North Falmouth in 1965.
While in Pittsfield and Coshocton, Mrs. Blanchard particpated in church and community activities. In Coshocton, she was also a YWCA board member.
Besides her sister of Pittsfield, she leaves a daughter, Barbara L. Bosselman of North Falmouth; two sons, Norman H. Blanchard Jr. of Birchrunville, Pa., and Dr. Duncan C. Blanchard of Gilderland, N.Y., 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Dorcas S. Blanchard, died before her.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be a memorial service for Edna Perkins Blanchard, who died March 11, 2004, on Tuesday, March 16, at 2 in the First Congregational Church, 68 Main St., Falmouth. Relatives and friends are invited.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church, 68 Main St., Falmouth, MA 02540, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
