Robert E. Nixon

Robert E. Nixon, 64, of Pittsfield died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 4, 1940, son of Loretta Delaney Nixon of Pittsfield and the late Francis Emmett Nixon, he was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.

He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts.

He served in the Army National Guard.

Mr. Nixon was employed as a program manager at GE, retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club.

Besides his mother, he leaves his longtime companion, Gloria Evans; two sons, Todd E. Nixon and Eric D. Nixon, both of Manchester, N.H.; four brothers, James J. Nixon of Dalton and Edward M. Nixon, Michael D. Nixon and Mark S. Nixon, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Patricia A. Nixon of Pittsfield, and his former wife, Sharon Jandrow of Amherst.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert E. Nixon, who died Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Pittsfield, will be tomorrow, March 12, at 10:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, March 11, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Oblate missions in care of the funeral home.
