Salvatore DeFino, 78, of Hillcrest Commons, formerly of Bradford Arms, died Sunday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 17, 1925, son of Joseph and Rosalie Carista DeFino, he was educated in East Nassau schools.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Russell Sage College in New York and attended the University of Gainesville in Florida.
A decorated Navy veteran of World War II, he served from December 1942 until February 1946.
Mr. DeFino had been a self-employed nutrition counselor and a licensed massage therapist.
At one time, he was a taxi driver.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an accomplished gardener.
He leaves two brothers, Gasper DeFino of Brunswick, Ga., and Robert Gentile of Syracuse, N.Y., and two sisters, Caroline Degnan of Watervliet, N.Y., and Rosetta Kelley of Dunnellon, Fla.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- At Mr. DeFino's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
