Robert F. Provost, 67, of 350 West St. died yesterday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 5, 1937, son of Francis and Hazel Hume Provost Sweeney, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and lived here most of his life.
He was employed as a licensed oil burner technician for 30 years for various Pittsfield oil companies, including Lipton Oil and O'Connell Oil. He retired in 1997.
He was a former communicant of Notre Dame Church, and also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He also loved dogs.
He leaves three daughters, Darlene H. Boyce of Peru, Pamela D. Malnati of Pittsfield and Yvonne H. Comstock of Gowanda, N.Y.; three stepsisters, Gail DiOrio of Pittsfield, Michelle Johnson of Southwick and Suzanne Sweeney of Cape Cod, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, the former Patricia Kent of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services and burial for Robert F. Provost, who died March 5, 2004, will be private.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., which is in charge of arrangements.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Christ, and by a stepbrother, Ralph N. Sweeney Jr.
