Carmen William Sacco

Carmen William Sacco, 82, of 301 Francis Ave. died Tuesday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since May 2003.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 21, 1921, son of Domenico S. and Carmella Pinyone Sacco, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Sacco was in the moving and trucking business for 60 years, starting with a horse and wagon in a rubbish removal business that his father established in 1912. He evenually took over the business, concentrating on household moving, and changed its named to Sacco's Trucking then Sacco's Moving and Storage. He retired in 1996.
He had been a member of the Household Goods Carriers Bureau and the Massachusetts Movers Association, and enjoyed listening to music.
He and his wife, the former Clara L. Morris, would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on May 17.
Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Virginia B. Sacco of Pittsfield, and a brother, retired Judge Rudolph A. Sacco of the town of Washington.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Carmen William Sacco will be tomorrow, Feb. 27, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Feb. 26, from 4 to 7.
He also leaves his three sisters-in-law, Katherine Sacco of Washington, Bethany Sacco of Pittsfield and Madeline Williams of Elk Grove, Calif.; six nieces, Cami Kinahan of Chapel Hill, N.C., Carolyn Hammarlof of Munson, Judi Coleman of Sandwich, Cathi Rylands of Headcorn, Kent, England, Dr. Dianne Sacco-Chandler of Quincy and Alycia Sacco-Duquette of Pittsfield; four nephews, Dominick C. Sacco of Pittsfield, Domenick F. Sacco of Dalton, Robert Sacco of Westfield and Gregg Anderson of Texarkana, Texas, 11 grandnieces and six grandnephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn T. Sacco; two brothers, Carlo Sacco in infancy and Felice D. Sacco; a niece, Virginia A. Sacco-Love, and a nephew, Rudolph "Randy" A. Sacco.
Mr. Sacco will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rudolph "Randy" Sacco Scholarship Fund or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
