Mayfred Jeanette Feil

Mayfred Jeanette Feil, 94, of 81 Westchester Ave. died Sunday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on May 29, 1909, daughter of Arthur M. and Elizabeth Ann Hicks Wilbur, she graduated from the former Pittsfield Vocational School of Nursing in 1959 and also from the former Berkshire Business College.

A licensed practical nurse, Mrs. Feil was employed at both the former St. Luke's Hospital and at Berkshire Medical Center for 20 years.

She also had worked in the accounting department of Berkshire Life Insurance Co. for 11 years. During World War II, she had worked at GE.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed painting.

Her husband, Arthur J. Feil, whom she married Aug. 6, 1938, died Sept. 1, 1988.

She leaves a daughter, Lisa A. Feil Ferriere of Willington, Conn.; four grandchildren, including her granddaughter Monica A. Feil Bailey, with whom she resided, and a great-granddaughter. A son, Arthur W. Feil, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mayfred Feil, who died Feb. 22, 2004, will be conducted Thursday at 2 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. James Dannals, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 to 2. Among survivors are her granddaughters, Monica A. Feil Bailey, with whom she lived, Kirsten M. Feil and Renee E. Ferriere; a grandson, Marc A. Ferriere and a great-granddaughter, Lindsey J. Johns.

In lieu of flowrs, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mrs. Feil was predeceased by two brothers, Woodward Wilbur and Francis C. Wilbur, and four sisters, Villa W. Battend, Anna W. Fyler, Lillian W. Hallas and Bessie W. Harder.
