Gertrude M. Bennett, 90, of 94 Tor Court died at Berkshire Medical Center on Tuesday.
Born in Belchertown on Jan. 10, 1914, daughter of Fredrick and Martha Engleman Michael, she moved to Pittsfield at age 10 and was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She was employed at the former Wallace Co., and the former Besse-Clarke store in the accounting department for 20 years.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She was involved with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts and the Parent-Teachers Association.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Jack L. Bennett, whom she married April 19, 1953.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Patricia Mayo of West Newberry; a son, Thomas Bennett of Bow, N.H.; a brother, Walter Michel of Boyington Beach, Fla., and two grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gertrude M. Bennett, who died Feb. 17, 2004, will be Tuesday at 11 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Gay Rohn officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. Donations in her memory are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Craft St., Suite 450, Newton, MA 02158-1287.
Among survivors are two grandsons, Gerald Bennett of New York City and Christopher Mayo of West Newberry.
