Joel D. Woodard

Joel D. Woodard, 75, of Gay Street, Winsted, Conn., died Monday at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Conn.

He was the father of Sandy Hart of Lenox.

Born in Sharon, Conn., on June 15, 1928, son of Henry and Isabel Speed Woodard, he had lived in Winsted since 1961.

Mr. Woodard had worked at Turner & Seymour for 20 years, Torrington Casting Co. for 10 years, and owned and operated A-Z Handyman for 20 years.

He was a member of the First Church of Winsted, collected model cars and enjoyed music.

Besides his daughter, he leaves his wife, the former Joyce Chamberlin; two other daughters, Joanne Forbes of Burlington, Conn., and Tina Cruden of Winsted; a son, Don Woodard of Winsted; three sisters, Doris Monyak of New Hartford, Conn., and Minnie Gray and Shirley Torrizo, both of Winsted, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joel D. Woodard will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at MALONEY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Walnut St., with the Rev. Ruth Maedel, pastor of The First Church of Winsted, officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow morning from 9:30 until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph Marcantonio Kidney Fund, 780 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790. Survivors include his son's companion, Natalie Stanikmas of Winsted, CT; a daughter's companion, Joseph Ashner of Burlington, CT; son-in-laws Roger Hart of Lenox and Dave Cruden of Winsted, CT; four grandchildren, Jana Hart Bush of Lee, George McBreairty of Connell, WA, Tammy McBreairty of Torrington, CT, and Chad Cruden of Winsted, CT; four great-grandchildren, Robert and Alexis McBreairty and Travis and Owen Bush.

Predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Richard and Raymond Woodard, and two sisters, Marie Ryan and Barbara Temple.
