Joan J. Hansen, 73, of 12 Concord Parkway died Sunday at home.
Born in Chicago on May 10, 1930, daughter of Lottie Swider Janasky of Chicago and the late Walter Janasky, she attended schools there.
She lived in several Berkshire towns before settling in Pittsfield in 1975.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Hansen had been employed as a sales clerk at the former England Brothers Department Store and as an office clerk at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at Sacred Heart School, where she received the Pope Pius X Award for service in Christian doctrine education.
She was a volunteer at Berkshire Medical Center and at the Berkshire Museum, and was a member of Pittsfield Beautiful. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.
She and her husband, John R. Hansen, were married Sept. 2, 1967, in Chicago.
Besides her mother and husband, she leaves a daughter, Jennifer A. Lofgren of Hull, and a sister, Dorothy Listowski of Mesa, Ariz.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joan J. Janasky Hansen, 73, who died Feb. 8, 2004, will be celebrated Thursday at 9 at St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will be in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Hansen also is survived by her loving son-in-law, Christopher M. Lofgren, and by three nephews, Robert Mingus, Christian and Heath Hansen, and by four nieces, Debbie Guerrero, Janice Burke, Amanda Romano and Laura Crutchfield.
