Edward Wilson Cowan

Edward Wilson Cowan, 77, formerly of Francis Avenue, died Friday morning at Providence Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Jackson, Miss., on Dec. 26, 1926, son of Dallas H. and Gladys Wilson Cowan, he was a graduate of Central High School there.

He also graduated from the University of Virginia.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a seaman first class from 1945 to 1946.

Mr. Cowan was employed as a financial analyst for the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington.

He enjoyed golf, had raised quarter horses and held a pilot's license.

He leaves a son, Edward W. Cowan Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Helen Herbert of Atlanta and Marion Knight of Fort Worth, Texas, and six grandchildren. Another daughter, Jessica W. Cowan, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Edward W. Cowan, 77, died Jan. 30, 2004. At the family's request, there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be in the old section of FloraCity Cemetery in Flora, Miss., at 2:30 on Saturday, Feb. 14. DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., is in charge of local arrangements.
