Carla Lauranzano, 59, of Henrietta, Texas, formerly of Lenox, died Saturday in Clay County Memorial Hospital in Henrietta after a long illness.
Born March 23, 1944, in Los Angeles, daughter of Bob and Volla Rhea "Billie" Threadgill Crow, she attended schools in Wichita Falls, Texas, including Reagan Junior High School, where she was a cheerleader, and Wichita Falls High School.
She studied nursing at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls from 1971 to 1974 and earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 2001 from the University of Massachusetts. She also took graduate courses at Cambridge College in Springfield. She resided in Lenox from 1976 to 2001.
Ms. Lauranzano was employed as a tobacco treatment specialist at Holyoke Health Center, until leaving because of poor health. She also had been employed by Safeway Food Stores in the Wichita Falls, Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, area for 16 years.
She leaves three daughters, Tammy Cody of Bluegrove, Texas, Gina Lauranzano and Lori Mendoza, both of Wichita Falls; a son, Jimmy George II of Wichita Falls; a brother, Terry Crow of Wichita Falls; a sister, Sherri McShan of Wichita Falls, eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Carla Lauranzano, 59, who died Jan. 31, 2004, will be at conducted Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10 in the chapel at DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, in Henrietta, Texas, by the Rev. Philip Swickard, vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church in Henrietta.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the humane society. She also leaves her beloved and devoted pet, Bud. She was an advocate of equal rights for all people and the humane treatment of animals.
