John R. "Jack" Carrigan

John R. "Jack" Carrigan, 68, of 27 Lenox Ave., owner of Carrigan Electric, died yesterday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on June 5, 1935, son of William J. and Evelyn M. Campbell Carrigan, he was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
An Army veteran, he served with the 3rd Infantry in Washington, guarding the White House. He also was with the honor guard at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery.
Mr. Carrigan was employed by Western Massachusetts Electric Co. as an electrician from 1958 to 1965, when he established his own company.
He was one of the original contractors to power local ski areas with night lighting and often volunteered his equipment and time for various civic endeavors.
During the height of his business, he built the largest DC rectifier in the world for General Electric Co.'s Ultrahigh-voltage laboratory on East New Lenox Road in Lenox, now called EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute).
He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church, a past member of the Elks Club, and a member of American Legion Post 68 and the Polish Community Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Eileen E. Langevin, whom he married July 27, 1957, in St. Agnes' Church in Dalton.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, John R. Carrigan Jr. of Pittsfield; two daughters, Ivy Wood of Islip Terrace, N.Y., and Cindy Tsalatsanis of Smithtown, N.Y.; three brothers, William Carrigan and James Carrigan, both of Pittsfield, and Richard Carrigan of Adams; a sister, Eileen Rozon of Pittsfield, and nine grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John "Jack" Carrigan, who died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 9:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7.
