Philomena J. "Fay" Placido, 80, formerly of 27 Montgomery Ave., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
She had been a resident of Springside of Pittsfield since November 2000.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 4, 1924, daughter of Edward and Santa Placido Derado, she attended local schools.
She had been employed by GE in the ordnance department for 17 years, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Placido was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.
She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, crocheting, cooking and reading.
Her husband, Ernest A. Placido, whom she married Nov. 3, 1942, died Feb. 4, 2001.
She leaves two daughters, Joanne K. Daoust of Pittsfield and Patricia N. Richter of Blue Bell, Pa.; a son, Ernest D. Placido of Pittsfield; a sister, Madeline J. Prew of Pittsfield, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Philomena J. "Fay" Placido will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, at 8 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton, chaplain at Providence Care Center in Lenox, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Loving grandmother of Ronald J. Daoust and Melissa M. Daoust and loving great-grandmother of Connor A. Daoust Monette.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association Western Mass Region in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by a brother, Daniel J. Derado, and a sister, Yolanda T. Sinopoli.
