Phyllis Dorothy Hamilton

Phyllis Dorothy Hamilton, 73, formerly of Rose Manor Apartments, Elberon Avenue, died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for the past two years.

Born on March 29, 1930, in Whitingham, Vt., daughter of Leslie and Dorothy Parsons Green, she attended school in Wilmington, Vt.

She had lived in Pittsfield for many years and was last employed as a dietary supervisor at Berkshire Medical Center for 25 years, retiring on April 1, 1994.

She also worked at the dietary department at the former St. Luke's Hospital. When she was younger, she worked for the Vermont Chair Co. in Readsboro, Vt.

She enjoyed playing bingo and walking, covering three to four miles per day.

She also enjoyed country and western music.

Her former husband, Paul M. Hamilton, died Oct. 15, 2003.

She leaves five sons, Douglas, Bruce, Paul and Kevin Hamilton, all of Pittsfield, and Richard Hamilton of Steubenville, Ohio; five daughters, Rosalie Zimmerman, Dorothy "Dot" Hamilton, Christine "Tina" Henderek, Teresa Pittman and Lou Ann Clapper, all of Pittsfield; two brothers, Robert Green of Whitingham, Vt., and Allen Green of Vernon, Conn.; a sister, Priscilla Fisher of Brattleboro, Vt.; 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, John Hamilton, who died Sept. 22, 2001.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private graveside service for Phyllis D. Green Hamilton, 73, who died Jan. 16, 2004, will be held at the convenience of the family at the Pittsfield Cemetery.

Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., will be Sunday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Hamilton is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Nancy, Diana and Hallie Hamilton; her son-in-law, Michael Henderek, and was the beloved grandmother of 16 and adored great-grandmother of two. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
