Harold D. "Skip" Hathaway Jr., 68, of Russell Road, Westfield, a native of Dalton, died yesterday at home.
Born on May 25, 1935, son of the late Harold D. Hathaway Sr. and Catherine Bauman Hathaway, he attended Dalton public schools.
He served with the Army National Guard.
Mr. Hathaway was a salesman for State Line Potato Chips in Wilbraham, retiring after 24 years of service.
He was a 2002 delegate to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention in Worcester and a former member of the Westfield Housing Authority.
He enjoyed visiting American Legion Post 124 and the Sons of Erin, both in Westfield, and was recently made an honorary member of the latter.
He enjoyed camping, playing golf and attending the horse races at Saratoga (N.Y.) Race Track.
He and his wife, the former Sherrill Haon, were married 45 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Scott Hathaway of Amherst; two daughters, Terri Hathaway of Springfield and Michele Miller of Westfield; a brother, Robert Hathaway of Dalton, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Harold D. "Skip" Hathaway Jr. will be Wednesday at 10:30, followed by services at 11 at ROBERT E. CUSACK FUNERAL HOME, 94 Main St., Route 20, in Westfield.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours are tomorrow, Jan. 20, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
Survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Scott, Madison, Isabel and Sydney; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
