Edward Chyla

Edward Chyla, 62, of 135 High St. died at Berkshire Medical Center on Thursday following a long illness.
Born in Garfield, N.J., on March 7, 1941, son of Edward and Mary Kwarta Chyla, he was a graduate of Garfield High School.
He moved to Pittsfield in 1973 and was most recently employed as an activities director at Hillcrest Educational Center at the High Point campus for more than 10 years.
He retired six years ago due to poor health.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.
He leaves a daughter, Sarah Chyla of Dalton; a son, Lucas Chyla of Suffern, N.Y.; three brothers, Larry Chyla, Kenneth Chyla and Michael Chyla, all of Schenectady, N.Y.; three sisters, Elaine Iovenelli of Schenectady, Carol Monticola and Patricia English, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and his former wife, Aline Chyla of Dalton.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Edward Chyla, who died Jan. 8, 2004, will be held on Monday at 11 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield.
There will be no calling hours. Among survivors are several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Childhood Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
