Rocco Joseph Yetz Jr.

Rocco Joseph Yetz Jr., 55, of 200 Mason Run Road, Rising Sun, Md., formerly of Pittsfield, died Dec. 29 at Union Hospital in Elkton, Md., from complications of diabetes.
Born in Pittsfield on April 1, 1948, son of Rocco J. Yetz Sr. and Hazel Benson Yetz, he attended schools in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1965.
He had resided in New York state until moving to Maryland 10 years ago.
A Navy veteran, he enlisted in 1965 and served for 12 years. He was honorably discharged as a petty officer, second class, and had received a stationary engineer's license. He also had been a boiler tender.
Mr. Yetz was employed as an engineer with Jacobs Engineering in Arlington, Va., for 10 years. After the service, he worked as a mechanical engineer for various companies.
An accomplished drummer, he played with the former Pittsfield Cavaliers, the Rochester (N.Y.) Crusaders and the Hawthorne Caballeros drum and bugle corps.
He leaves three brothers, Jan Yetz of Pittsfield, Gary Yetz Sr. of Shirley, and Ray Yetz; and five sisters, April Swanner of Adams, Sue Marshall of Lanesboro, and Hazel Yetz, Lisa Yetz and Michelle Parkhurst, all of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Graveside Service for Rocco J. Yetz Jr., who died Dec. 29, 2003, will be conducted Saturday at 9 at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. William D. Furey. Those planning to attend should meet within the cemetery gates at 8:45.
There will be no calling hours. Immediately following the service, a reception will follow at the home of Lisa Yetz at 283 Dewey Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, which is handling the arrangements.
Rocco is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews and his former wife, Cathy Yetz of Nottingham, Md. He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Yetz Durley, in 1999.
