Gloria M. Metallo, 81, formerly of 176 Columbus Ave., died yesterday at Country Estates Nursing Home in Agawam.
Born in Cheshire on Feb. 17, 1922, daughter of Gabriel and Germena Graziani Osanni, she attended schools in Cheshire and Adams.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1945.
She was last employed at the former Hillcrest Hospital dietary department for 25 years, retiring in 1998.
She had also worked for A.H. Rice Inc. for eight years and the former Berkshire Coat Factory in Pittsfield for seven years.
She enjoyed cooking, making braided rugs and playing bingo.
Her husband, Peter D. Metallo, whom she married Nov. 24, 1945, at St. Mary's Church in Cheshire, died Oct. 26, 1980.
She leaves a son, Paul A. Metallo of Southwick; a brother, Remo Osanni of Cheshire; a sister, Mary Yon of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Gloria M. Metallo will take place Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at 9 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Loving grandmother of Leah M. Metallo and Mario P. Metallo, and loving mother-in-law of Cheri Metallo.
Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home.
