Frank Alexander Grosso

Frank Alexander Grosso, 78, of 69 Circular Ave. died Tuesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 25, 1925, son of Peter and Angelina Russo Grosso, he was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a bachelor of science degree.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 to 1945.

He had been employed as an engineer for the Clark-Aiken Co. in Lee from 1957 to 1973, serving as chief engineer from 1958 to 1973, where he served as director of research and development for new products. While there, he co-authored three patents.

Following the closing of Clark-Aiken, he worked as chief engineer at Kimberly Clark, retiring in 1982 with a total of 30 years of service. In his earlier years, he had worked at GE in Fort Edwards, N.Y., and E.D. Jones and Sons Co. as a machine and tool designer.

Mr. Grosso was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the University of Massachusetts Alumni.

He leaves two sisters, Tina G. Penna and Mary A. Hogue, both of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 2, at 10:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.

Frank Alexander Grosso, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, is the beloved uncle of Dyane and Mike Hogue, Michael Hogue, Sara and Lance Palmer, Teresa and Alan O'Brient, Sam and Luke O'Brient, Tom and Leslie Hogue, Pietro Hogue, Bill and Yoshiko Hogue, Yuriko Hogue, Dan and Christine Curley, and Mary and Joe Curley.
