Carrie Rose Bosma, 89, of 54 Maple Grove Drive died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in New York City, daughter of Joseph and Anna Henry, she was educated in schools in New Jersey.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1954.
Mrs. Bosma was a secretary for the city of Pittsfield building inspector, retiring in the 1970s. Before that, she was a bookkeeper at the former Berkshire Beef. While in New Jersey, she worked in a garment factory.
She was a volunteer at Berkshire Medical Center, where she logged 2,239 hours, and for the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program, both for 20 years, and was a member of the Greylock Federal Credit Union Quality Time Club, where she submitted many articles for its newsletter.
She enjoyed flower gardening, nature, animals, community service and traveling, and activities with the seniors.
Her husband, Clarence H. Bosma, whom she married July 22, 1939, died March 16, 1996.
She leaves a daughter, Claire E. Bosma of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Carrie Rose Bosma, who died Dec. 28, 2003, will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William Furey. Burial will follow in Main Street Cemetery in Dalton.
Calling hours will be from 12:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Bosma is also survived by several cousins in Pittsfield and by her nephews, William Shropshire of Ocean, N.J., and Robert Kennedy of Keene, N.H., and her niece, Patty Barker of Harwich.
