Susan J. Sarro, 89, of 15 Lisa Lane, Westfield, formerly of 7 Chestnut St., died Friday at home.
Born in Lee on May 3, 1914, daughter of Biagio and Palma Blasioli Meledeo, she attended Pittsfield schools.
She moved to Westfield in 1993.
Mrs. Sarro was a homemaker. She was employed by the former Dale Brothers Laundry for two years and by the former St. Luke's Hospital in the housekeeping department for two years.
While in Westfield, she was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, and in Pittsfield, of Mount Carmel Church.
Her husband, William Sarro, whom she married March 23, 1942, died Nov. 20, 1995.
She leaves a daughter, Maureen P. Harju of Westfield, with whom she made her home; two sisters, Isabelle P. Tesoniero and Evelyn T. Meledeo, both of Pittsfield; a brother, Arthur A. Meledeo, of Skiatook, Okla., and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Susan J. Sarro will be tomorrow, Dec. 30, 2003, at 10:30 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 in Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 3 to 7 at the funeral home. Survivors also include her son-in-law, Wayne Harju of Westfield. She was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Simmons, Pauline Ricchi, Lucy Asci and Josephine DiNicola, and by two brothers, William Meledeo and John N. Meledeo.
Memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home.
