Richard C. Freehan

Richard C. Freehan, 85, of 140 Melbourne Road, Apartment 330, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided for about a month.

Born in Pittsfield on June 21, 1918, son of Philip E. and Eva Baker Freehan, he attended Pittsfield High School.

He had resided in Lakeland, Fla., for 18 years, returning to Pittsfield in 2002.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Freehan worked at the former Eaton Paper Co. as a maintenance man, retiring in 1983. Before that, he worked with his father delivering oil.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He and his wife, the former Regina Siwik, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Oct. 4.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Margaret Milone of Gilbert, Ariz., and Judy Culver-Bueno of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Richard C. Freehan, who died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 1 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by Deacon Jim Hager of Sacred Heart Church.

There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery. A brother, Clayton Freehan, predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
