Romana Spazioso

Romana Spazioso, 93, formerly of Highview Drive, Colonial Gardens, and a longtime resident of 63 Reuter Ave., died Thursday at Palms Rehabilitation Center in Palm Bay, Fla., where she had resided for three years.
She moved there to be closer to her family.
Born in San Gimignano, province of Siena, Italy, on April 24, 1910, daughter of Quinto and Annunziata Migliorini Giusti, she attended schools there. She emigrated to the United States at age 12 and resided in Pittsfield.
She had been employed by GE as an assembler, retiring in 1965 after 23 years of service. Before that, she worked at A.H. Rice Silk Mill for several years.
Mrs. Spazioso was a communicant of All Souls' Church and a member of its Ladies' Society.
She was a volunteer at the former Hillcrest Hospital for several years and enjoyed traveling to Italy and other countries.
Her husband, Joseph Spazioso, whom she married in 1930, died in 1964.
She leaves a sister, Iolanda "Pat" Sojkowski of Pittsfield; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Velma B. Dubuque, died Feb. 19, 1986.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Romana Giusti Spazioso, 93, who died Dec. 25, 2003, will be Tuesday at 8:45 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 at All Souls' Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Souls' Church in care of the funeral home.
Romana is lovingly survived by her three grandchildren, David J. Dubuque, Lori Choromanski and Audrey Teeling, and son-in-law, Albert J. Dubuque. She was predeceased by her daughter, Velma Dubuque of Fairfield, Conn.; a brother, John A. Giusti, and three sisters, Mary Zavattaro, Genova Levante and Victoria DiCicco.
