DALTON, Mass. — Dannie Wright, 62, of 255 Grange Hall Road died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Herrin, Ill., on May 16, 1941, son of Hermon F. and Juanita Blankenship Wright, he was a 1959 graduate of Flint (Mich.) Central High School. He had lived in Dalton for 12 years and had formerly lived in Pittsfield for 25 years.
At the time of his death, Mr. Wright was employed by Western Massachusetts Electric Co. as a heavy duty equipment repairman, a position he had held for 18 years. Previously, he had been employed for 18 years by Pittsfield Department of Public Works.
He had been a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Pittsfield for many years, and coached Pittsfield Junior Football for many years as well. He enjoyed photography, astronomy and the outdoors.
He and his wife, the former Dorothy Lesko, were married on May 13, 1961, in Michigan.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Thomas E. Wright of Portland, Conn., and James A. Wright of Pittsfield; a sister, Marilyn Wright of Tyler, Texas, and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Wright of Illinois.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Wright will be Monday, Dec. 29, at 10 at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
