Robert W. "Bud" Tucker

Robert W. "Bud" Tucker, 90, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown, died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 4, 1913, son of Raymond L. and Anna Condron Tucker, he attended local schools and was a 1931 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe from 1942 to 1945 as a tank commander with Company A 778th Tank Battalion.
He was a recipient of a Bronze Star.
He was employed by the former A&P Tea Co. as an assistant manager and later a manager for 43 years in Pittsfield. He retired in 1975.
Following his retirement, he was employed by George's Package Store for 15 years.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's Church, a member of its parish council and a member of Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 272 and a member of the National Kidney Foundation.
He and his wife, the former Mary McErlain, were married April 14, 1941, in St. Joseph's Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert J. Tucker of Pittsfield; a daughter, Patricia Mackey of Lanesboro; a brother, William Tucker of Palm Harbor, Fla., and five granchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Robert W. "Bud" Tucker, 90, died Dec. 25, 2003. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:15 from the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to either the Jimmy Fund or St. Joseph's Church in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Tucker is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Lisa Combs, Michael, Sean and Matthew Tucker and Daniel Mackey; his daughter-in-law, Patricia J. Tucker, and his son-in-law, Ronald A. Mackey.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond L. Tucker Jr., and a sister, Eleanor Mahon.
