Elizabeth Jean Kanerva

Elizabeth Jean Kanerva, 60, of Morgan Street died Saturday evening at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a brief illness.

Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on March 20, 1943, daughter of Kathryn Kobylarczuk Acor of St. Cloud, Fla., and the late John Acor, she moved to Pittsfield as a child and was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

She also graduated from a hairdressing academy in Boston.

Mrs. Kanerva was employed as a cashier at the Lee Truck Plaza until becoming ill several months ago. Before that, she was a cook at Lenox Memorial High School.

She also had worked as a hairdresser at various shops in Pittsfield for many years.

She was a member of Trinity Church and enjoyed bowling. She had been a member of a women's league at the former Imperial Bowl in Pittsfield for several years.

She and her husband, Lawrence Kanerva, were married April 20, 1983.

Besides her husband and mother, she leaves a son, Michael J. Kanerva of Lenox; a brother, John "Bud" Acor of Kissimmee, Fla.; a stepson, Mark Sniezek of Pittsfield, and stepgrandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth Jean Kanerva, who died Dec. 20, 2003, will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 27, at noon at Trinity Church in Lenox by the Rev. Stephen Booth, rector. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. She is also survived by two nieces and four nephews. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Trinity Church in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements.
