Paul Armand Lauzon

Paul Armand Lauzon, 78, of Pollock Avenue died Wednesday at home, following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn on Oct. 13, 1925, youngest of 11 children of Alfred and Arthemise Lauzon, who emigrated from Canada, he was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's High School there. He earned a bachelor of arts degree and a master's degree in education from Boston College in 1951 and 1954, respectively.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the Philippines.
He had been employed by GE in the lighting and rectifier department in Lynn and in ordnance in Pittsfield, retiring in 1985 after 35 years of service.
Mr. Lauzon was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
He was a member of AARP, Our Lady of Fatima Circle, GE Pensioners' and Quality Control clubs, Jaycees, Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum, Lincoln Club (Berkshire County Republican Association), Pittsfield Detachment Marine Corps League and the Italian American War Veterans Post 75.
In 1998, he was recognized as an outstanding volunteer for contributing 100 hours to Elfun, a volunteer organization of GE leaders.
He was also a volunteer with the Red Cross for 28 years, serving as a swimming instructor for 10 years.
He also worked the city election polls for many years.
He and his wife, the former Lorraine Giguere, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 8.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. Among survivors are more than 40 nieces and nephews. Expressions of sympathy in Paul's memory may be made to the American Red Cross or the Catholic Observer newspaper in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Mark F. Lauzon and Stephen P. Lauzon; two daughters, Janice Lauzon Caporale and Commander (USCG) Michelle Lauzon Kane; four sisters, Clair Brown, Sister Gertrude Lauzon, Eva Kirvin and Constance Craig, and eight grandchildren.
