Rezziero "Root" DelGallo, 76, of Canterbury Drive, Indialantic, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Friday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on March 6, 1927, son of Rinaldo and Concetta Marulli Del Gallo, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He had resided in Brevard County, Fla., since 1985.
A decorated Navy veteran of World War II, he was stationed at Pearl Harbor.
Mr. DeGallo worked in auto body repair, then as an ironworker and welder for Farrell and Gregory until 1981.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Indialantic and, while in Pittsfield, of Mount Carmel Church.
He was president of the South Little League and coached one of the teams in the late 1950s. He also had been a member of the Itam Lodge.
In Florida, he was a member of the Italian American Club of South Brevard, the Florida Federation of Italian Americans and American Legion Post 200.
He and his wife, the former Barbara M. Barzottini, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Nov. 11. They were married in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard DelGallo of St. Louis and Bruce R. DelGallo of Lanesboro; a daughter, Brenda Cross of Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, former Pittsfield Mayor Remo Del Gallo and Rinaldo DelGallo Jr., both of Pittsfield; a sister, Bambina Tagliaferro of Pittsfield, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Rezziero "Root" DelGallo, who died Dec.5, 2003, will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 11, at 1 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialantic, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904 or the Holy Name of Jesus Endowment Fund, 3050 North Highway A1A, Indialantic, FL 32904.
Mr. DelGallo also leaves his mother-in-law, Elmira Barzottini; a daughter-in-law, Jane DelGallo of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Anthony, Krista, Jamie, Ashley, Jared and Alicia, and two great-grandchildren, Katarina and Nadine. Arrangements by BEACH FUNERAL HOME, Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.
