Daniel Bernard Prout

Daniel Bernard Prout, 16, of 108 Parker St. died Saturday at UMass Medical Center in Worcester from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Richmond on Nov. 23.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 16, 1986, son of William Tracy Prout of Pittsfield and Lauren McCarron Bolio of Pittsfield, he attended Crosby Elementary and Reid Middle schools.
He was a junior enrolled in the machine shop program at Taconic High School.
As well as being a student, he was working as a landscaper.
He also worked part time as a Berkshire Eagle newspaper carrier, and at the Stop & Shop store on Dan Fox Drive.
In 2001, he and some classmates placed third in the Berkshire Solar Sprint, a race for solar-powered cars built and designed by the participants. A talented artist, he and classmate Sean Donnelly created the winning entry in a contest to design the button for the 2002 Pittsfield Parks Department Winter Carnival.
He was also an avid skateboarder, and enjoyed computers, music and movies. He also played Boys' Club Junior League hockey.
Besides his father, he leaves his mother and stepfather, Craig R. Bolio of Pittsfield, with whom he made his home; a sister, Kylie J. Ungewitter of Pittsfield; three brothers, William Tracy Prout Jr. and Ryder J. McFadyen, both at home, and Chad Beeler of Hinsdale; his maternal grandparents, Bernard J. and Jeannine E. McCarron of Pittsfield, and his paternal grandmother, Eileen Trunbull of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by a brother, Nathan Wieland-Bolio, on Sept. 16.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The family of Daniel B. Prout will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1 to 4 at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox. Funeral and burial services will be private.
Daniel is also survived by his uncles and aunts, including Michael and Catherine McCarron of Dalton, Roger and Colleen Hassan of Pittsfield, Patricia McCarron of Pittsfield, Eugene and Melissa Thomlin of Monroe, Va., and Jacqueline Kimple of Richmond, and his great-aunt, Kathleen Coombs of Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Daniel's memory to the Pediatric ICU Unit at UMass Worcester Medical Center in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
