Anita A. Cartier Thibodeau

Anita A. Cartier Thibodeau, 83, formerly of 193 Elberon Ave., Rose Manor, died Friday evening at Sweetbrook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she had resided since 1999.
Born in Woonsocket, R.I., on April 14, 1920, daughter of Medoric and Justina Martel Riendeau, she was a 1938 graduate of Blackstone High School.
She also had resided in Fall River and moved to Pittsfield in 1948.
She and her late husband, Armand F. Cartier, operated the Cartier Luncheonette and Variety Store for more than 20 years. She also had worked at the former Wyandotte Worsted mill, and at the former Strong-Hewat Mill in Clarksburg.
While in Fall River, she worked as spinner in the mills there.
Mrs. Thibodeau was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.
Her first husband died in 1980. They were married 28 years.
Her husband, Alfred Thibodeau, whom she married July 2, 1983, died in 1996.
She leaves three sons, Edgar "Joe" Cartier of Lenox, Michael Cartier of Lanesboro and Robert Cartier of Spring Hill, Fla.; four stepdaughters, Joan Drysgola, Theresa Allen and Carol Geerhardt, all of Pittsfield, and Shirley Cole of Lenox; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anita A. Cartier Thibodeau, age 83, who died Nov. 22, 2003, will be Tuesday at 9:15 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Francis' Church by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:45 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or the National Stroke Association in care of the funeral home.
She also is survived by her daughters-in-law, Vera Cartier of Pittsfield, Deborah Cartier of Lanesboro and Lisa Cartier of Spring Hill; and her grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Cartier of Pittsfield, Joe and Jason Cartier of Rock Hill, S.C., and Caitlyn, Ryan and Gabrielle Cartier of Spring Hill.
