Louise T. Lester

Louise T. Lester, 87, formerly of Rose Manor, died Wednesday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided for the past five years.

Born in Pittsfield on April 20, 1916, daughter of Stephan and Frances Kania Demick, she attended local schools.

She had been employed as a cook at a nursing home in Newton, retiring in 1988, the year she returned to Pittsfield.

During World War II, she had worked at GE and had also worked at Wyndotte Worsted Mills.

Her husband, John Lester, predeceased her.

She leaves a son, Richard L. LaValley of Pittsfield; a daughter, Mildred A. DiVola of Pittsfield; six sisters, Bernadette Borden and Pauline M. Krzynoski, both of Pittsfield, Victoria Szymanski and Wanda Hicks, both of Stephentown, N.Y., and Virginia Lohnes and Henrietta Harrison, both of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Louise T. Lester, who died Wednesday, Nov. 19, will be held today, Friday, at 10:30 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor of St. Mary the Morning Star Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
