Elaine Mary Rodgers, 64, of 134 East Park Terrace died Monday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 12, 1938, daughter of Leo and Susan Spiewak Rodgers, she was a graduate of the former Dalton High School and the former Berkshire Business College.
She also had lived in Alaska and New Mexico.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Rodgers had been employed by the former St. Luke's Hospital as a bookkeeper many years ago.
During the 1960s, she received her pilot's license through the Pittsfield Municipal Airport.
An accomplished pianist, she enjoyed genealogy, astrology, gardening and cooking.
She had a passion for rescuing animals.
She leaves a son, Joseph P. Rodgers of Pittsfield; a daughter, Julie M. Gavin of Pittsfield; a brother, L. Anthony Rodgers of Kinsman, Ohio; a sister, Teri Armour-Rodgers of Seattle, and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Elaine Mary Rodgers, who died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, will be conducted Friday, Nov. 21, at 1 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves her son-in-law, Roger W. Gavin Jr., and her four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Steven, Cory and Joseph, with whom she had especially enjoyed spending time.
