Gladys Spratling, 68, of East Street died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Camp Hill, Ala., on May 6, 1934, daughter of William and Mary Drake Hutcherson, she graduated from Edward Beal High School there.
A longtime resident of Great Barrington, she moved to Pittsfield in 1980.
Mrs. Spratling worked at various jobs for several local families.
While in Great Barrington, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, singing and dancing.
Her husband, Horace Spratling, died in 1989.
She leaves two sons, Horace Leon Spratling and Eric L. Spratling, both of Pittsfield; three daughters, Cynthia Spratling, Sheila Wilson and Kathy I. Spratling, all of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Lance Spratling, died in 1967.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gladys Spratling, who died Oct. 31, 2003, will be conducted Friday, Nov. 7, at noon at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME by the Revs. Joseph Forte and Esther Dozier. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 until the time of the service.
She also leaves her son-in-law, Lorenzo Wilson Jr.; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Allison; 11 grandchildren, Horace Leon Jr. Mohogany, Jaye, Dante, Lance, Jessica, Shanice, Jerome, Trevelle, Lorenzo III and DaShaun; two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
