Frank Severio Marinaro

Frank Severio Marinaro, 82, of 94 Elaine Drive died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Springfield on Jan. 11, 1921, son of Enzo and Louisa DelGuidice Marinaro, he spent most of his first nine years in Italy.
His family returned to the United States and settled in Springfield, then in Pittsfield, where he graduated from Pittsfield High School's printing program.
A paratrooper, he served in the Army Airborne from 1941 to 1942, when he received a medical discharge.
He worked for the family print shop, Il Courier Del Berkshire, until the early 1950s. During that time, he was a member of the Massachusetts State Guard and was instrumental in founding the Boy Scout troop at Mount Carmel Church, where he was its first scoutmaster. He became completely disabled in 1960.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and of American Legion Post 68 since 1942. At the time of his death, he was the longest continuing member, almost 62 years, of Post 68. In 2002, he was presented a citation from the Massachusetts Senate and Post 68 at a special ceremony in his honor at the American Legion Hall.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed listening to National Public Radio.
He and his wife, the former Angelica M. Paone, were married May 29, 1948.
He leaves two sons, Vincent P. Marinaro and Francis B. Marinaro, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Alba Pisiewski of Easthampton, and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Frank S. Marinaro, 82, who died Oct. 25, 2003, will be Tuesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association or to the Catholic Youth Center, both in care of the funeral home. Mr. Marinaro is survived by his daughter-in-law, Marianne Marinaro, and his four grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Christopher and Gabrielle Marinaro. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Salvatore Marinaro.
