Joan Desautels-Gorton, 69, of 176 Columbus Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 18, 1934, daughter of Dr. Antonio P. Desautels and Emma Bliel Desautels, she was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. Desautels-Gorton was director of medical records and case management at the former Hillcrest Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Berkshire Humane Society.
She was an animal rights activist and enjoyed doll collecting.
She leaves a daughter, Denise M. Elsensohn of Big Pine Key, Fla.; a son, Paul W. Gorton of Narragansett, R.I.; a brother, Gilbert H. Desautels of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joan Desautels-Gorton, 69, who died Oct. 26, 2003, will be tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Notre Dame Church celebrated by the Rev. Max Kishe, parochial vicar.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Stroke Association or the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
She is lovingly survived by her granddaughter, Nicole V. Hardee, and by two great-grandchildren, Kayleb and Dylynn Hardee, all of Cheshire.
