Lillian M. Fortin

Lillian M. Fortin, 102, formerly of 15 Evans Ave., died yesterday morning at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided for 3 1/2 years.
Born in Saint Felicien, Quebec, on Jan. 20, 1901, daughter of Gonzaque and Julia Boivin Tremblay, she attended schools there.
She moved to Winooski, Vt., and in 1930 to Pittsfield. Before moving to the nursing home, she had made her home with her granddaughter, Sandi Spaniol of Pittsfield.
Mrs. Fortin sewed clothing at home for manufacturers in New York City. She also had worked in a factory in Vermont.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, and a former member and president from 1949 to 1951 of the Franco-American Club Ladies' Auxiliary.
Her husband, Frederick A. Fortin, died July 28, 1986.
Besides her granddaughter, she leaves a daughter, Jeannette Kelly Race of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Jeanne Perrone of Dolbeau, Quebec; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Pauline Mullaney Ruiz, died in 1992.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lillian M. Fortin died in Pittsfield on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003. A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Oct. 23, at 9 at Notre Dame Church. There will be no calling hours.
If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Springside of Pittsfield in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, which is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fortin was the oldest of 13 children.
