Robert E. Quigley Sr

Robert E. Quigley Sr., 81, formerly of McArthur Street, died Tuesday at Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, where he had resided for 30 years.
Born in Salem on Aug. 24, 1922, son of Timothy and Eva Quigley, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the GE apprentice draftsman program.
A World War II veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant in the 898th Signal Company from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Quigley was employed by GE as a senior design draftsman in the power transformer department for 28 years, retiring in 1966.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, and a former member of Pittsfield American Legion Post 68.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan.
His wife, the former Nel Warren, whom he married in 1942, died in 1964.
He leaves two sons, Robert E. Quigley Jr. of Pittsfield and Raymond J. Quigley of Canaan, Conn.; a daughter, Katherine E. Brown of Parumph, Nev.; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Robert E. Quigley Sr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 2 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Quigley may be made to the Hinsdale Lions Club Eyesight Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Charles Quigley.
