Philip Edward Buckley

Philip Edward Buckley, 51, of Brainerd, Minn., died Wednesday at a Minnesota nursing home.

He was a former resident of Pittsfield.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 21, 1952, son of Kathryn Hebler Buckley of Pittsfield and the late George Buckley, he was a 1970 graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School.

He earned an associate's degree in electronics from Community College of Air Force and a bachelor's degree in business and engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He was also a graduate of the licensed practical nursing program at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

He served in the Air Force from 1972 to 1976 as an instrument technician and quality assurance engineer.

He had held several senior-level positions with Potlach, a paper manufacturer in Brainerd, Minn. Previously, he had worked as an engineer with Raytheon in New Hampshire and Honeywell in Minneapolis.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain biking and exploring the country.

Besides his mother, he leaves two sons, Sean Buckley of Buffalo, Minn., and Dennis Buckley of Thief River Falls, Minn.; a daughter, Robin Guse of Maple Grove, Minn., with whom he had resided during his illness; three brothers, George Buckley of Lanesboro, James Buckley of Antwert, N.Y., and Jack Stephenson of Berkshire Village; three sisters, Dr. Gayle Buckley of Jonesville, N.Y., Susan Cunningham of San Jose and Kay Woodcock of Lanesboro; and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Philip Edward Buckley, 51, who passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with his children at his side, surrounded by family and friends, also leaves his daughters-in-law, Jennifer (Mrs. Sean), Kristin (Mrs. Dennis); his sisters-in-law, Rosalie (Mrs. George) and Ginny (Mrs. James); his son-in-law, Wayne Cunningham; his grandchildren, Samantha and Eric Buckley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 20, at 1 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Dr. Roger A. Davis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
